Our OTJs

Students who have not been at school for 3 years must be sorted into one of three groups for National Standards – that is; After One Year at School, After Two Years at School and After Three Years at School. Following on from that – the classification is BY the end of Years 4,5,6,7 and 8.

We have been working on a system for National Standards Data collection – in 2012 we took a snapshot at the beginning of November as to what our standards were.

From 2015

We are going to trial grouping students into quartile groups to reflect their ages. E.g. students who turn 6 in term one (therefore would meet the group – After One Year at School) will have relevant testing recorded (not necessarily more testing just the snapshot of the testing so long as it is relevant) in the After One Year at School group. Then at the end of the year this data can be used to be presented on for an annual picture.

After 1 Year at School

After 2 Years at School

After 3 Years at School

Term One (Code: Group 1:1)

Term One (Group 2:1)

Term One (Group 3:1)

Term Two (Group 1:2)

Term Two (Group 2:2)

Term Two (Group 3:2)

Term Three (Group 1:3)

Term Three (Group 2:3)

Term Three (Group 3:3)

Term Four (Group 1:4)

Term Four (Group 2:4)

Term Four (Group 3:4)

DPs will have a list of ‘who’ is turning 6, 7 and 8 in each term (which includes to the end of the holidays so Term 1 group 1:1 goes until the end of term one holidays). The DPs will then meet with the relevant teachers to gather assessment, moderate and assign a National Standard level. We would envision this can be done as quickly as 10minutes per child so long as there is enough ‘data’ to support the decision.

Following on from these three groups – there is the rest of the National Standard levels to assess;

  • Year 4
  • Year 5
  • Year 6
  • Year 7
  • Year 8
