Information for members of the public attending meetings of the Board
School Board of Trustees meetings are held in public and are open to any interested party to attend. The provisions of Part 7 of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 apply to school Board meetings.
Members of the public are welcome to attend Board meetings and will be provided with the relevant papers for the meeting.
Members of the public are not entitled to:
- Take part in the meeting by work or action unless granted speaking rights by the Chair. It is usual for such rights to be sought in advance of the meeting.
- Communicate with trustees during the meeting unless the trustee leaves the meeting.
- Remain in the meeting room when the meeting goes into ‘public excluded’ session (also called ‘in committee’) as permitted under Section 48 (1)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 when commercially or personally sensitive information is being discussed. The public may however return if the meeting moves ‘out of committee’ and continues with open business.
Next Meeting is set for 15 June 2017 at 7.00pm at Martinborough School.
